A "Golden " day for a walk

Look at that sweet face, how could I deny her a walk? This pretty girl is named "Nana", we adopted her about 3 years ago from a couple in Jenks

.
Unfortunately, Nana has put on a few pounds this Winter, so a walk was necessary.

I know, I don't look too thrilled, it was freakin cold! But, I 've been really stressed out lately with my elderly parents, my 97 year old Grandmother, my college-aged son, and my soon to be college bound daughter so I figured i should get out since i haven't really been running much. i just can't seem to get motivated. Maybe i need some light therapy??

Nana say's "Hurry up Mom! Quit being depressed and walk me dammit!!!

Sniff, sniff...do i smell ducks?? Boy that water looks inviting!

Come on Mom! Quit taking pictures and let's get on with our walk!!! i know, i know, i'm a pretty girl.

Whoa nelly!!!!! See!! I told you i smelled some ducks!!

Sorry Nana, you can't go swimming today, it's too cold!!

Hurry up Mom, the sun is getting ready to set. I want to get in as much walking time as i can!!

Wow, they must have cut this tree down today because of the awful high winds we had here last night. what a waste!!

I'm startin to get a little thirsty, is that a water fountain up ahead??

See Mom, that wasn't so bad after all huh?? See what a little sunshine, cold wind, a brisk walk, and a wet kiss can do for you!!

Ahhhhh, home sweet home. Hey mom, tomorrow can we do it again, huh, please????

Ruth signs up for her 1st 5K race!!!!!

Christal and her Dad were there too showing off there RunnersWorld apparel. Ruth chose to show off her OU Sooner spirit!!!

This is Zach, Ruth's son. He runs cross country with Hayley at Broken Arrow. He took 2nd in his division. Good job Zach!!!!!

They had a really good turn out, probably close to 400 runners.

Remember what Coach Kathy says Ruth, pace yourself!!!

Hayley finishes with a good time, except she was mad because another girl beat her by 5 seconds!! Heck, she still took 2nd place.

Ruth crosses the finish line!!!!

Randy, Ruth's husband gives her a congrats hug!!

Tuesday night run ended up being a crawl.

See this little turtle? This is exactly how I felt tonight. I don't know why, but I could not find my pace.

I could go a couple of blocks, but then I would have to stop and walk. My legs felt so heavy and my hip was kinda bothering me. Poor Ruth, she was sweet enough to stay with me the whole 3 miles. My husband is getting on to me because I expect to be able to bounce right back after being sick. In fact, it's weird. Last night after work, I came home and started getting that achy feeling again in my shoulders and neck. So I took a bath, took a flexeril, and went to bed with heat on my shoulders. Jay woke me up and I was burning up again with 102 fever. It finally broke a couple hours later. I don't get it. I'm sure it's just a virus. My symptoms actually started 10 days ago. I'm almost finished with my antibiotics for the sinus thing, but this is different. I did google night fevers. Probably a mistake since I could have:
#1. Tuberculosis
#2. Lymphoma
#3. Malaria

This is a cool find. I bought Ruth one for her birthday and got myself one too. Unfortunately, I left the thing at home tonight! It's not the brightest light, but it does really work.
I found them at Academy. I made Hayley run with me Monday night while I was wearing my hat because it was so dark. She said I looked like a dork.
I'm not sure how anyone can really look cool wearing something like this anyway.
Kids, whatta they know????

Brrrr....Glen's Run at Mohawk

Hayley gets ready to kick some booty at the 12K this morning.
But wait! She must first absorb as much heat from the Trail Zombie as she can. What a strategy!

On your mark....get set.....
They're smiling!!! Bobby and Kathy withstand the cold north wind. Don't let that sunshine fool you, it was freakin cold!
Susan looks all warm and toasty, ready to represent RunnersWorld in the 3K. Good Job Susan!!

Hayley puts her best foot forward as she wears her best big cheesy grin for the camera.

Bobby and Co. blow by the water station where I am encouraging runners to keep smiling :-)

Hayley makes the 12K look easy with a time of 52:16, while Brian stays warm in the van. She did take 1st place for her age group and 4th for the Women.

I wish I could run like her!! I thought it best not for me to run today since I'm just starting to feel like a human again. Instead, I made myself useful at the water station with a guy named Louis. Hopefully I can run with Hayley on Turkey Day.

Does my head look bigger??

I must have the Mother of all sinus infections because this one has really taken me down! I stayed home again today, say in my soft chair with my blanket and remote, watched some VH1, History Channel, Oprah. The weather outside looked absolutely beautiful, dang it. Hayley bounced in all happy after her run and announced she was off to go work on weights and her abs. im so jealous.
So I called Jay at work and told him he needed to stop at Walgreen's and get me a Netty pot because Dr Oz ( he's the guy who wrote YOU, the Owner's manual) said it's the best thing for plugged sinuses. So I go to youtube and watch a video on how it's done. verrryyy interrressting. So Jay delivers the pot, (no! not that kind silly!) and I ask him "Honey, do you want to watch?" he say's no thanks, he's not interested in seeing the insides of my head pour out into the sink. So I read the instructions, add the salt mixture and lukewarm water to the little netty pot and go for it. Kinda feels like a pressure in the front of your face, but not bad. I didn't choke or drown. I rather enjoyed it:) So, hopefully I'll be feeling better by tomorrow and I get get back on the horse! I mean the pavement!

Route 66 marathon

Hayley receives a congrats hug from Coach Kathy after an awesome finish!!
Hey I may be slow, but I made it in less than 1:30!!Hayley and Mom enjoying the moment.

Our first marathon, Hayley did the 1/2 and I did the 1/4. I was worrying about Hayley for nothing! She finished first in her division with a time of 1:39. She loved it so much, I think she's hooked. My goal was to finish in less than 1:30, which I did with a time of 1:24. I wish I could be a little faster, but at least I did it. It was nice to see all the other RunnersWorld people there for support. Tonight I missed the Tuesday night run because I started running a 102 fever yesterday with horrible chills and aching. The Doctor thinks I have a sinus infection so she started me on antibiotics. I'm hoping I'll feel better by Thursday so I can run again.

Is it getting any warmer out there yet???

Tomorrow is the big day, my 1st quarter marathon. I think i'm more nervous for Hayley since she decided to switch from the 1/4 to the 1/2. She say's not to worry, but I know she doesn't drink and eat enough and she'll start out too fast. Listen to me, like i'm an old pro. HA!
I just hope I don't end up walking 1/2 of the race. I know i should be proud of myself, which i am, but i wish i could have more stamina. it sucks getting older. God, please don't let me freeze my ya-ya off tomorrow, and please watch over my baby girl. Amen!!!
